THE CLIENT

Shakespeare Birthplace Trust, Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire, UK

THE BRIEF

Photograph New Place – the garden at the site of Shakespeare's family home – capturing the spring displays of tulips, as well as the garden's wonderful sculptures.

THE SHOOT

I visited New Place twice, both in the late afternoon/early evening and the following morning in order to make the most of the best light, and to photograph the gardens with few visitors about.

THEMES

William Shakespeare's home from 1597-1616, New Place gardens showcase several sculptures depicting characters from his plays.

SOCIAL MEDIA

As well as 90 high-res images, suitable for print, additional sets of images were provided, cropped and re-sized for use on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

“We commissioned Will to take some photos of the gardens at Shakespeare's New Place for our summer press pack. He is professional, efficient and has the ability to translate even the briefest of briefs into amazing photographic results. We now have a beautiful set of images that truly encapsulates the spirit of the New Place gardens and wouldn't hesitate to call on Will again.”

Footprint
THE CLIENT

Footprint Travel Guides, Bath, UK

THE BRIEF

This long-running photography project involved supplying the images for a series of family travel books by Footprint, one of the UK's leading guidebook publishers. The titles included Cornwall with Kids, Britain with Kids, Europe with Kids and Travel with Kids.

THEMES

Photographs showing children enjoying a range of family holiday experiences, from surfing in Cornwall to safaris in Kenya, were required for this extensive project.

PLACES TO STAY

Various family-friendly properties were photographed for the accommodation sections in each book, including Feather Down Farms (shown here). Both interior and exterior views were taken, along with details, such as food and activities.

ATTRACTIONS

Numerous family holiday attractions were featured in each of the Travel with Kids books – and each one was tried and tested by my children, including the National Seal Sanctuary in Cornwall, shown here.
